if you're still waiting to get your copy of glimpses

here's a little quote to get you started from the middle of the book:

"As I watched some of the young mothers come in to this meeting with young children, restless from meetings that have preceded this one, I think I felt something of your frustration and challenge to be the perfect mother. Relax. There is no such thing as the perfect mother who fits all the eulogies. We just do the best we can with the help of the Lord, and who knows, these children who are struggling to be free may someday rise up and call us blessed. The trick is to enjoy it. Don't wish away your days of caring for young children. This is your great day. Sometimes we get so caught up in the physical work and trivia that we forget the big picture. We forget whose children they really are. When the house is filled with children, noise and teasing and laughter, you get the feeling this is forever. Before you know it they will be gone...... The rewards of mothering are not immediate. There are times when you are less appreciated.... Then there's the unexpected hug, when you least deserve it. And while you are enjoying these days of mothering, be sure your demands on your children for perfection are not so heavy that they cannot be children."

-given on a mothers day sacrament meeting

thought this was a good quote to review myself before heading off to church today. i'll try to remember it as ambrose begs for "pears!!!" in a football field voice as they're blessing the sacrament. ;)

hope you can get your copies soon and we can meet at the end of the month. i want to do something a little different this month. we shall see!

is there any point in me posting this? :)

whoever heard of a book club where nobody reads? jk. some people do read and i have read all but one (nerd alert!) so i'm gonna take a leap of faith and say, "come on ladies! let's breathe some life into our little club!!"

let's get all churchy up in here- shall we?

i choose this book: Glimpses into the Life and Heart of Marjorie Pay Hinckley by Virginia H. Pearce (Editor)

i was trying to think what book would be most beneficial to this particular group.

i read it when i was a struggling mom of one and now i'm a wiser-but-still-have-a-lot-to-learn mom of two and i promised myself i would read this book yearly.

you will see what i mean if you pick it up and let it get under your skin, into your heart...etc.

i need it to keep me on track so i'm gonna read it again. you wanna read it too?

if you do then great! i am sure byuh library has it but TRUST ME - it is worth buying, having, quoting and so on and so forth. you could probably pick it up at the bookstore and i am sure half.com has some good deals. oh yeah, check that link out- those are some really good deals. nice.

whatcha think?

Tonight?

Hi everyone,

We're supposed to be meeting tonight at my place at 8:00pm.
Has anyone read the phantom book? Ha!
I can't find my copy either.

Is anyone planning on coming
given that no one seems to have read the book?

If people are planning on coming, then we're a go.
If not, then we can cancel.

Just comment and let me know one way or another
and I'll plan accordingly.

xo,

Nat

This Month's Book: Man's Search for Meaning.

This is by far my favorite book of all time. I'm not going to lie, it's heavy at first, but it quickly turns itself into a study of triumph and is INCREDIBLY inspirational.

  • Would Thursday, July 30th be ok for everyone for our meeting? We can meet here at my place. 55-691 Wahinepe'e St. Laie.
  • Everyone can just bring a snack to share.
  • What time do you guys normally meet?

I feel a little bit strange hosting a get together, when I've never actually been to one. :) If any of this sounds different than the norm for you guys, let me know and we'll change it around.
