thanks and a follow-up to the dramaaaaa

thanks everybody for coming last night and making my night.

and i am so sorry to those who wanted to actually watch the movie- it's an academy award winning really good classic, but since it was a little longer and we started a little late i just really wanted to have enough time to chat and hang out and be friends!

so i hope you'll forgive me for switching it off :)

anyway- as always i had a blast just hanging out and talking and i NEEDED it so much so thank you! it's nice to have good friends.

AND A FOLLOW UP TO THE PARKING DRAMA: i felt like i needed to be more neighborly so i went next door this morning and apologized to them for the situation and chatted for a bit and they were so so nice and told me they normally wouldnt mind- they just had no where else to park after work. it's all good and resolved and i feel very good about them at the present moment... which is nice since they hate our landlords and have always treated us accordingly... so maybe it was all for the best! haha :)

and that's it- i'm looking forward to a christmas carol. hopefully we can see rachel and kristen too next month- we missed you two! adios and have a great thanksgiving!

dont forget!!

to come to my house tomorrow night (Tuesday NOV 25th) at 8PM!!

... or i'll have to eat a whole bucket of fried chicken by myself ... oh how despressing. :)

SEE YOU SOON!!!!!

call or email me if you need directions! and as for parking... this is always so annoying, sorry friends ... try and carpool to cut down on the drama if you can and park at the end of the street (like by the rock wall right when you turn on the street) if parking right in front of my house is taken...which it most certainly will be except for one spot paralell to my driveway right behind my little white car.

or there is always parking at matti's and stef j's and hiking your way up. it'll be good for your glutes. :) (i had a picture of a big booty here... but thought it was sad on second thought- haha)

yep, it is indeed next week!

this morning echo and i were talking about the to kill a mockingbird party and it is indeed less than a week from today! so write this down wherever you write down important things to remember:

When: Tuesday November 25, 2008
Time: 8 PM
Place: Stephanie Robertson's (call her or ask a friend in the know if you dont know where that is)
What are we doing: watching the movie and eating southern comfort food!

echo is making homemade mac and cheese
ashley is making really good cornbread
stephanie robertson is thinking about picking up some fried chicken

and since it is 8PM at night this is more for fun than for dinner so we dont need much else.

anyone want to bring like baked beans or fruit or drinks? or something else southern that i am forgetting about?

let me know! please come (even if you didnt read the book- we just want to party) it will be fun!

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Hi there my fellow readers.
I heard from Echo darling that I was the talk of the book club the other night. I know you are wondering, "who is this fellow book reader that is not participating?". Well I must apologize. I have kept in touch with the blog, but have not joined in with the reading, shame on me. I have excuses, but that would be a long list of ridiculousness so guess what, I did pick an old classic that is a family tradition in the Hatch home. Actually not reading it, but watching it, is the tradition. (We do read Stubby Pringle every year ask Echo about that one)
I love the story, "A Christmas Carol" There is so much for each of us to learn from Charles Dickens works...of man and how we communicate and associate with others! He is a wonderful descriptive writer of the human race. This book can truly be read in just a few days. It will also help us with the Christmas spirit during this wonderful season of joy and happiness! It's not always the gift, it is the smile, or the generous thoughts we can express to those we love and to those we may not even know. Happy Christmas caroling to you.

i like the name scout, but i can never convince thomas to like it

i started reading to kill a mockingbird yesterday and some of it is really familiar and most of it feels like i am reading it for the first time. after the first about four pages, i really got into it and i am loving it so far.

have you started?? haha - get on it! we only have a couple more weeks until party time.

i am also looking forward to hanging out with you all at echo's sweeeeeet pad this tuesday night! i liked the accidental tourist too. i am glad i read it. i think i read some review (maybe on the actual book now that i think of it) about the characters being so familiar that you would meet them in your community and although i think the characters are each eccentric in their own way- i would totally have to agree. i really wanted to know who macon would end up with and my heart ached every time they talked about losing their son. anyway, the ordianry-ness of the book was comfortable and enjoyable and a non-stressful (sometimes stressful can be good too- like if you're in the mood for an action/thriller novel) read so thanks melissa! good pick.

it's cool to be a part of a group like this, because i probably wouldnt have read these books otherwise.

thanks.

To Kill a Mockingbird!

Hey- most of you are done with last months book so go ahead and start this months book: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

My mom read this to me a long time ago and I really dont remember all the details- I think most of you have probably already read it in High School so hopefully it will be like visiting an old friend... that's how I feel everytime I re-read Pride and Prejudice. Anyway, it's such a classic I thought it was worth the read.

We will meet at the end of the month (perhaps Tues. the 25th... too close to Thanksgiving or does that work for everyone?) at my house and we can watch the movie or do something else. I will be thinking of ideas and if you have any we can do that too.

Invite anyone who wants to join us. I think I will put it up on my blog at some point.

Alright, let's get readin'! I am excited. Thanks for starting this club Echo, it is fun.

the movie

is from 1988 and it's on the netflix website so I didn't get the dvd because we can watch it for free on there. However we need to have internet access, Echo do you have (high speed) internet access?

also steph if you need more time to read we can move the date.
