Hi there my fellow readers.
I heard from Echo darling that I was the talk of the book club the other night. I know you are wondering, "who is this fellow book reader that is not participating?". Well I must apologize. I have kept in touch with the blog, but have not joined in with the reading, shame on me. I have excuses, but that would be a long list of ridiculousness so guess what, I did pick an old classic that is a family tradition in the Hatch home. Actually not reading it, but watching it, is the tradition. (We do read Stubby Pringle every year ask Echo about that one)
I love the story, "A Christmas Carol" There is so much for each of us to learn from Charles Dickens works...of man and how we communicate and associate with others! He is a wonderful descriptive writer of the human race. This book can truly be read in just a few days. It will also help us with the Christmas spirit during this wonderful season of joy and happiness! It's not always the gift, it is the smile, or the generous thoughts we can express to those we love and to those we may not even know. Happy Christmas caroling to you.

i like the name scout, but i can never convince thomas to like it
i started reading to kill a mockingbird yesterday and some of it is really familiar and most of it feels like i am reading it for the first time.
after the first about four pages, i really got into it and i am loving it so far.
have you started?? haha - get on it! we only have a couple more weeks until party time.
i am also looking forward to hanging out with you all at echo's sweeeeeet pad this tuesday night! i liked the accidental tourist too. i am glad i read it. i think i read some review (maybe on the actual book now that i think of it) about the characters being so familiar that you would meet them in your community and although i think the characters are each eccentric in their own way- i would totally have to agree. i really wanted to know who macon would end up with and my heart ached every time they talked about losing their son. anyway, the ordianry-ness of the book was comfortable and enjoyable and a non-stressful (sometimes stressful can be good too- like if you're in the mood for an action/thriller novel) read so thanks melissa! good pick.
it's cool to be a part of a group like this, because i probably wouldnt have read these books otherwise.
thanks.

To Kill a Mockingbird!
Hey- most of you are done with last months book so go ahead and start this months book: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
My mom read this to me a long time ago and I really dont remember all the details- I think most of you have probably already read it in High School so hopefully it will be like visiting an old friend... that's how I feel everytime I re-read Pride and Prejudice. Anyway, it's such a classic I thought it was worth the read.
We will meet at the end of the month (perhaps Tues. the 25th... too close to Thanksgiving or does that work for everyone?) at my house and we can watch the movie or do something else. I will be thinking of ideas and if you have any we can do that too.
Invite anyone who wants to join us. I think I will put it up on my blog at some point.
Alright, let's get readin'! I am excited. Thanks for starting this club Echo, it is fun.

the movie
is from 1988 and it's on the netflix website so I didn't get the dvd because we can watch it for free on there. However we need to have internet access, Echo do you have (high speed) internet access?
also steph if you need more time to read we can move the date.
